Prestress Applications
Prestress box girders and beams have many applications. Primarily, they are a strong product that is relatively light, allowing shipment and installation of very large pieces without the traditional constraints due to weight. Prestress box girders and beams are:

  • Light-weight for shipping and installing
  • Customized length, width and depth
  • Customized for loading
  • Various types are available such as:
    • Box beams
    • I-girders
    • Tub girders
   
Refueling Jetty, Esquimalt Naval Base, DND
Location: Esquimalt, BC, Canada
Contractor: North America Construction

We provided 57 prestress tub girders, each about 50 feet in length and weighing about 56 tonnes, as well as the fender panels for the refueling jetty. This project was a lengthy one, with supply and install aspects taking over a year. The end result is this refueling jetty for our pacific fleet.
